About Us
A Children's Aid Society is an incorporated, non-profit organization, designated under Section 15 of the Child and Family Services Act and governed by legislations, objects, by-laws, policies and procedures that set our provisions for legal status, role and decision making processes. The Society delivers mandatory child protection services.
The Children's Aid Society of the County of Lanark and The Town of Smiths Falls is one of 53 Societies legislated under the Child and Family Services Act to:
- Investigate allegations of abuse and neglect
- Protect children where necessary
- Provide guidance, counseling and other services to families for protecting children and for the prevention of circumstances requiring the protection of children
- Provide care and supervision for children assigned to its care
- Place children for adoption
